Generally, there are two types of meetings: informational and decision-making. Many meetings are a combination of both.
Informational Meeting
Sharing of information takes place and coordinated activities are established and reviewed. In this type of meeting all or most of the participants are expected to give briefings. Q & A session or open discussion format is usually encouraged to give and take information.
Decision-Making
Some of the common aspects to a decision-making meeting involve persuasion, analysis, brainstorming and problem-solving.
In these types of meetings, participants have a pre-established agenda. The main focus of this type of meeting is to develop a course of action, supported by the participants.
